Alan Pert is a Professor and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning at the University of Melbourne. He previously served as Director of the Melbourne School of Design and led the University's new Fishermans Bend campus initiative. As an architect and academic, he co-founded NORD, a practice integrating architecture and research through competitions, exhibitions, and built projects.
His research focuses on design innovation, affordable housing, and healthcare architecture. Notable projects include the Victoria & Albert Museum’s furniture galleries (RIBA Award winner) and palliative care facilities. He chairs the Affordable Housing Hallmark Initiative and leads the 'Design Innovation' lens in research.
Awardees include the RIBA Manser Medal shortlist for the 'Shingle House' and the Doolan Prize for a Glasgow studio complex. He co-leads the AHRC-funded 'Invisible College' project, addressing urban regeneration through interdisciplinary collaboration.
Alan holds roles as Lens Leader for Design Innovation and oversees the Faculty’s strategic initiatives. His work bridges academic research with practical architectural solutions, emphasizing community well-being and sustainable design.
