Alan O'Connor is a Professor of Media Studies at Trent University, Canada. He holds a BA from Trinity College Dublin, and MA/PhD from York University. His research focuses on popular culture, media, and community media's role in subcultural identities. Notable works include studies on punk record labels, Latin American community radio, and pandemic-era news media analysis. He has conducted research on Peterborough's underground arts scene since 1970, supported by the Symons Foundation. His work bridges sociology of culture and media anthropology.
