Alan Jamieson

Alan Jamieson is the Director of Computing Programs and a Teaching Professor of Computer Science at Northeastern University's Roux Institute and Khoury College of Computer Sciences. He oversees graduate programs and teaches courses in Discrete Structures, Algorithms, and related theoretical foundations. His research focuses on broadening participation in CS, K-12 computational thinking integration, and algorithmic development.

Education:

• PhD in Computer Science from Clemson University

Research Interests: Jamieson emphasizes innovative pedagogical techniques to engage diverse student backgrounds. His work includes liberal arts-focused data science program development and PreK-2 computational thinking integration. He also explores graph theory and algorithm design.

Advising & Leadership: Previously chaired the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where he developed a data science program and established a multi-disciplinary fabrication lab.
