Laney Strange is a Teaching Professor at Khoury College, Northeastern University, Boston, serving as Director of Broadening Participation and Director for Teaching Faculty. She leads initiatives to dismantle computer science's reputation as intimidating and inaccessible, with a focus on supporting women, people of color, trans women, and non-binary individuals through her mission of 'CS for Everyone.' Her work spans institutional leadership, curriculum development, and community outreach.

Strange's research and teaching center on equity-driven computing education. She co-taught INMI 2700: Transformative Justice with Computing Technology (Fall 2024), developing tech solutions for recently incarcerated women of color. Her scholarship emphasizes inclusive pedagogy, equitable grading systems, and integrating social justice into CS curricula, informed by her own experience learning to code in college. She actively presents on these topics at national conferences like UIUC's CS Summer Teaching Workshop and SIGCSE.

As an academic advisor, she mentors student groups including FirstByte, Grad Women Coders, and Code4Community. Her grant work includes the Khoury-funded CS & Ethics Research Fellowship (2022-2023) with Profs. Vance Ricks and Meica Magnani, focusing on trauma-informed tech solutions for marginalized communities.
Strange founded and leads the Women's Community of Code (WCoC), hosting semesterly workshops for girls (10-14) and women on campus. She chairs the Teaching Faculty Hiring Committee (Boston) since 2023, coordinates Boston Public School field trips, and directs Khoury's financial support for student conference travel to Grace Hopper and Tapia. Her STRIDE membership (2022-present) and MAGIC Mentor involvement (2016-present) further anchor her DEI leadership.
