Alan J. Abramson is a Professor and Director of the Center on Nonprofits, Philanthropy, and Social Enterprise at the Schar School of Policy and Government, George Mason University. Alan J. He has served as president of ARNOVA and was elected a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration. In 2018–19, he served as the first Visiting Scholar at Independent Sector, and since 2021, he has been coeditor-in-chief of Nonprofit Policy Forum.
Throughout his career, Abramson has been actively involved in advising and governance. He has served on numerous national and local nonprofit boards and advisory committees. At George Mason University, he previously served as interim MPA director and currently serves on the Faculty Senate and as an elected faculty representative to the Board of Visitors Development Committee.
