Mirae Kim is an Associate Professor of Nonprofit Studies and the Director of the Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program at the Schar School of Policy and Government, George Mason University. She has previously held faculty positions at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, Georgia State University, and the Harry S. Truman School of Public Affairs, University of Missouri.
Her educational background includes a PhD in Public Affairs and Administration from Rutgers University (2014), a master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University, and a bachelor’s in English Literature from Seoul National University, with exchange experience at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She was also a Penn Social Impact Doctoral Fellow.
Kim's research focuses on nonprofit financial management, the role of nonprofits in civil society, nonprofit advocacy, arts and cultural policy, interorganizational partnerships, and the dynamics of immigrant and BIPOC-serving nonprofit organizations. Her work emphasizes empirical analysis and sector-wide data collection to inform policy and practice.

She is also affiliated with the Nonprofit Trends and Impacts team, which supports evidence-based policymaking through rigorous data collection and dissemination.
