Dr. Alan Hockley is a Lecturer at Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) since 2002, holding a PhD in Outdoor Education and Adventure Recreation. His academic roles include teaching in Outdoor Education, Sports, and Events programs, and leading the Learning Development Unit since 2013. He serves as an External Examiner for an MA Outdoor Education course at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. His research focuses on qualitative methodologies (phenomenology, autoethnography) and the intersection of recreation with health and wellbeing. Notably, his 2012 thesis explored 'wayfaring' through landscape analysis.
