Alan H. Turner is Professor & Chair at the Department of Anatomical Sciences, Renaissance School of Medicine, Stony Brook University. His research focuses on phylogeny, systematics, and anatomy of crocodylomorphs and theropod dinosaurs, with emphasis on body size evolution in archosaurs and theoretical issues in historical biogeography. He employs fieldwork-oriented, specimen-based approaches combined with quantitative phylogenetics and comparative methods.
Education:
- PhD, Columbia University (2008)
- M.Phil, Columbia University (2006)
- MS, University of Iowa (2004)
- BS, University of Cincinnati (2001)
Dr. Turner's work spans theoretical and empirical studies, including analyses of Mesozoic notosuchian crocodyliforms and early eusuchians, and investigations into theropod miniaturization linked to feather and flight evolution. His lab collaborates on projects involving CT scanning, histological analysis, and model-based tools for paleontological data.
