Alain Strowel

Alain Strowel is a Full Professor at the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL) and Saint-Louis University in Brussels. He is a specialist in copyright law and media law, and has been a lawyer at the Brussels bar since 1988. His research focuses on the legal and ethical implications of the internet's evolution, particularly the tension between its utopian promises of emancipation and dystopian realities of commercialization and surveillance. He advocates for balanced regulation of digital spaces to address these dualities.
