Alain Roussy is an Associate Professor in the French Common Law Program within the Common Law Section of the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa. He has held significant leadership roles including Vice-Dean of the French Common Law Program (2020-2021 and 2022-2023), interim Dean of the Faculty (2021-2022), and Vice-Dean Governance (2022). He was also the first director of pratiquO, the Faculty's French-language continuing professional development centre (2017-2019).
His educational qualifications are:
- B.Sc. from the University of Ottawa (1998)
- LL.B. in French Common Law from the University of Ottawa (2002)
- LL.M. from the University of Ottawa (2012)
Professor Roussy's research focuses on professional responsibility and legal ethics. His teaching spans courses such as Introduction to Dispute Resolution, Legal Skills, Civil Wrongs (Torts), Bankruptcy and Insolvency, and Professional Responsibility. He has presented at numerous conferences on professional responsibility and legal ethics, including events organized by the Canadian Bar Association, AJEFO, and the Canadian Association for Legal Ethics (CALE). His work emphasizes the intersection of language rights and legal practice in French within Canada.

Professor Roussy has been actively involved in the legal community, serving on the board of directors of the Canadian Association for Legal Ethics (CALE) from 2016 to 2022. He has also contributed extensively to continuing legal education through pratiquO and various conferences, particularly focusing on professional responsibility and the practice of law in French.
