Alain Morin is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Mount Royal University. His research focuses on self-awareness, inner speech, neurophilosophy, and cognitive processes. He holds a PhD from Laval University and has contributed extensively to understanding the relationship between inner speech and self-processes. Morin teaches courses such as Theories of Personality and The Self, emphasizing theoretical and empirical approaches to psychological concepts.
His research interests include self-recognition, theory of mind, and the mind-brain problem. Morin has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, with notable contributions to journals like Psychology of Consciousness and Frontiers in Psychology. He is also affiliated with the Inner Speech Research Lab, exploring interdisciplinary applications of self-talk and inner speech.
Morin’s work bridges cognitive science, neuroscience, and philosophy, addressing topics like free will and self-regulation. He has presented at international conferences, including the Science of Consciousness Conference and the International Conference on the Dialogical Self. Beyond academia, he composes orchestral music, influenced by classical composers like Bach and Mozart, showcasing his creative integration of analytical and artistic pursuits.
