Alain-Guy Sipowo is an Associate Professor at the Université de Montréal's School of Criminology, with additional research roles at the Centre d'études et de recherches internationales (CÉRIUM). His work focuses on international criminal law, victimology, and access to justice, particularly examining victim rights in global, transnational, and national legal frameworks. He serves as a researcher at the Clinique juridique pour les victimes d'actes criminels (2022–present) and previously at the Université de Montréal's International Criminal and Humanitarian Law Clinic (2012–2014).

Scientific projects led or co-led include: Les droits des victimes de violence raciale dans le système de justice pénale (2022–2024), Victims, Law and Justice: A Partnership Approach to Transformative Justice (2023–2027), and La protection des victimes d'actes criminels (2023–2026). Funding sources include SSHRC, FRQSC, and the Ministère de la Justice. As a Quebec Bar member (2018–present), he combines academic work with legal practice, including roles at the International Criminal Court (2008) and the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (2007).
