Aksel Hallin, PhD, is a Professor of Physics at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Science. He leads experimental astroparticle physics research, focusing on dark matter detection (DEAP-3600/DarkSide-20k) and neutrino studies (SNO+, SNO). His work includes designing detectors like the acrylic cryostat for DEAP-3600 and the anode/cathode system for DarkSide-20k, emphasizing ultrapure materials and background reduction. He holds roles at SNOLAB and Gran Sasso, with expertise in detector construction, data analysis, and radioactive contamination control.
