Aki Yoshida is a Researcher at IFRAE since January 1, 2019, specializing in Japanese literary studies. She earned her PhD from Inalco (Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales) on November 16, 2018, with a thesis titled "The literature of Koreans in Japan: the construction of a new literary identity, its realization and its questioning" under Anne Bayard-Sakai's supervision.
Her research centers on identity formation in marginalized Japanese literary traditions, with primary focus on Zainichi Korean narratives and colonial-era Japanese-language works. She examines linguistic subjectivity and migration patterns through interdisciplinary frameworks connecting literature, sociology, and postcolonial theory.
She actively contributes to four major research initiatives:
- Modern and Contemporary Japanese Poetry
- Linguistic Variations and Manifestations of Subjectivity
- Migrations in Asia and Migrations from Asia
- Japanese Populations
