معرفی
Prof. Akashdeep Kamra is a Professor of Theoretical Physics at the Department of Physics, RPTU in Kaiserslautern, Germany, a position he has held since June 2024. He leads the Working Group (AG) Theory of Spin Systems, focusing on theoretical solid-state physics with a strong emphasis on spin phenomena. His research group actively collaborates with institutions such as CUNY, Mainz, and NTNU, and is funded by the DFG (Project A13) under the Spin+X initiative.
His research spans quantum magnonics, spintronics, exciton-magnon coupling in van der Waals materials, nonreciprocal transport, and spin-dependent superconductivity. His work bridges condensed matter physics with quantum information science, particularly in the context of magnonic quantum computing and cavity-mediated spin interactions.
The 15 most recent publications reveal a strong trend in quantum materials, especially antiferromagnets and superconductors, with a focus on emergent phenomena such as magnon-mediated exciton interactions, nonreciprocal supercurrents, and cavity-induced magnetic order. The research combines theoretical modeling with close alignment to experimental feasibility.
Scientific Awards:
- 2023 Pat Goldberg Memorial Best Paper Award by IBM
Prof. Kamra is deeply involved in education, having developed and taught new courses such as 'Foundations of Quantum Technologies' and 'Quantum Magnonics'. He supervises student research projects and theses, currently advising Jannis Finn Masanetz and Jannik Ockenfels. His team includes postdoctoral researchers, research assistants, and international collaborators.
The group operates within the Department of Physics at RPTU, with strong ties to the Spin+X network and active participation in collaborative projects involving magnonics, superconductivity, and quantum information.
