Professor Ajay Shah is Executive Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine and British Heart Foundation Professor of Cardiology at King's College London. He directs the King's BHF Centre of Research Excellence and serves as Hon. Consultant Cardiologist at King's College Hospital. His medical training includes degrees from the University of Wales and postdoctoral work at the National Institutes of Health.
Research focuses on cardiovascular pathophysiology, particularly heart failure mechanisms, redox signaling, and NADPH oxidase proteins. His lab investigates experimental and clinical aspects of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS).
Awards include fellowships from the Academy of Medical Sciences, International Society for Heart Research, European Society of Cardiology, and American Heart Association. He has published over 350 peer-reviewed papers with an h-index of 98.
