Dr. Aisling Mulvihill is a Research Fellow at the Queensland Brain Institute, Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences, The University of Queensland. Her research focuses on social cognition, self-regulation, and the interplay between language and theory of mind in early childhood and adolescence.

Her clinical background as a speech pathologist informs her work on neurodevelopmental disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). She co-authored the Ant Patrol Children's Stories (2013), an educational series supporting social-emotional learning in children.
The 15 most recent publications span mental state language, cross-cultural communication, private speech in self-regulation, and educational interventions like the MASTER™ Focus Program. Topics include gender expression in child-adult interactions, maternal communication styles, and the developmental impacts of sibling relationships.
She supervises PhD research on mental state talk in early childhood education and has served as associate advisor for projects on bilingualism and gender socialization.
