معرفی
Janet Vuolo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech and Hearing Science at The Ohio State University, where she directs the Child Language and Motor Lab. She holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University (2017), an M.A. from the University of Minnesota (2008), and a B.A. from the University of Connecticut (2003). Her expertise spans speech motor control, language development, and disorders such as childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) and developmental language disorder (DLD). She teaches courses on communication disorders, language acquisition, and motor speech disorders.
Her research focuses on how cognitive mechanisms like timing and sequencing underlie speech and language challenges in neurodevelopmental disorders. Current projects explore spatiotemporal variability and rhythmic skills in CAS. She emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, linking motor and linguistic factors in child development. Her work bridges clinical practice and academic research, with a commitment to understanding fundamental mechanisms of communication disorders.
Dr. Vuolo’s articles (2015–2024) investigate speech variability in CAS, rhythmic deficits in DLD, and social determinants of health affecting speech-language interventions. She actively collaborates with educators and clinicians to translate findings into evidence-based practices.
