Ainsley LeSure is an Assistant Professor in both Africana Studies and Political Science at Brown University. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Chicago (2015), along with an MA (2007) from the same institution and a BA from Carleton College (2005). Her research focuses on political theory, critical race theory, phenomenology, democratic theory, and feminist theory. Her current book project, Locating Racism in the World, retheorizes antiblack racism as a 'reality-violating racial common sense,' emphasizing institutional accountability and participatory democracy to combat racism. She teaches courses such as An Introduction to Africana Studies and Embodying Race and Gender.
