Aime K. Johnson is an Associate Professor of Equine and Small Animal Theriogenology at the Department of Clinical Sciences, Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. She graduated from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine with a DVM in 2000 and completed an equine theriogenology residency at Texas A&M in 2005, achieving board certification by the American College of Theriogenologists in 2007.
Her research focuses on:
- Feline reproduction
- Gene therapy for childhood gangliosidosis using feline models
- Assisted reproduction techniques in endangered equid species (e.g., Przewalski’s Horse)
- Suppression of sexual behavior in horses
Her work bridges veterinary clinical practice with translational research in genetics and reproductive medicine. Key publications include studies on gene therapy efficacy for neurological disorders, advanced semen processing techniques, and reproductive pathology in equines.
Scientific awards include:
- Diplomate, American College of Theriogenologists
- Board certification, American College of Theriogenologists (2007)
She has contributed extensively to clinical theriogenology literature, with a focus on reproductive disorders, assisted reproduction, and comparative disease models. Her research has implications for both veterinary practice and human genetic disease therapies.
