Dr. Ailsa Holroyd serves as an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the School of Cancer Sciences, University of Glasgow, based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms driving hematological malignancies, particularly chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) and lymphoma.
Her primary research interests center on dysregulated signaling pathways including mTOR kinase, protein kinase C (PKC), and B cell receptor (BCR) networks. She investigates how these pathways promote leukemogenesis, cancer cell survival, and migration in blood cancers, with emphasis on therapeutic targeting of oncogenic mechanisms.
Analysis of her 2015-2022 publications reveals consistent exploration of CLL pathogenesis through multiple angles: PKCβ-mediated BCR signaling (2022), MYC/RUNX2 interactions in lymphoma (2019), AKT/mTORC2-FOXO1 axis in CLL survival (2019), and mTOR's role in cellular migration (2018). This work demonstrates sophisticated integration of molecular oncology and signal transduction principles.
Dr. Holroyd secured significant research funding from The Kay Kendall Leukaemia Fund (2014-2018) for her project "Elucidating the role of mTor kinase signalling in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia." Her collaborative publication record indicates active mentorship within multidisciplinary cancer research teams despite no formal student listings.
