معرفی
Aileen Reid is a Senior Research Fellow at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London (UCL), where she has been since October 2013. She leads the Survey of London, a longstanding research project documenting London's architectural and urban history. Her work bridges historical scholarship with innovative uses of film, exemplified by her short film The Winstanley Plays Itself, which integrates archival footage with historical narratives. Reid specializes in 19th-century British architecture, particularly in London, and is currently writing a book on architect Edward William Godwin (1833–1886), to be published by Historic England/Liverpool University Press in 2024.
Reid holds a PhD from the Courtauld Institute of Art (London, 1999) and previously worked as a journalist for the Sunday Telegraph (1998–2005). She maintains an honorary role in curating 7 Hammersmith Terrace, the historic home of Emery Walker, an associate of William Morris. Her research interests include architectural history, film as a research medium, and gender equality in built environments (aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goal 5).
Teaching responsibilities include contributions to UCL's MA programs in Architecture and Historic Urban Environments, and Architectural History. She is fluent in French, Italian, and German, with advanced reading skills in those languages.
