Aidan Coleman is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at Southern Cross University, where he also teaches in the Associate Degree of Creative Writing program. His dual role as a writer/critic and educator spans 12 years of secondary teaching experience in English and history, alongside academic coordination. He has received a National Excellence in Teaching Award (NEiTA) and co-designed Australia’s first Shakespeare MOOC, while co-authoring Shakespeare textbooks.

Research Interests: Aidan’s work focuses on Australian literature, Shakespearean studies, poetry, ecocriticism, and creative writing pedagogy. His scholarship appears in journals like New Writing, Journal of the Association for the Study of Australian Literature (JASAL), and Westerly, with upcoming book chapters on Shakespeare’s Sonnets (Routledge), migratory bird poetry (Routledge), and Australian Modernism (Cambridge University Press). He is completing a biography of poet John Forbes for Melbourne University Publishing (2024).

Teaching & Grants: Aidan’s NEiTA award reflects his pedagogical innovation, alongside contributions to digital education via the Shakespeare MOOC.
