Dr Ahren Warner is a Senior Lecturer at Loughborough University's School of Design and Creative Arts, where he joined in 2016 as a Vice Chancellor’s Research Fellow. Previously, he was a Research Associate at Newcastle University's Newcastle Centre for the Literary Arts. His roles span academia, creative practice, and editorial leadership.
He holds a PhD in English Literature from Queen Mary, University of London (thesis on commodities as identity signifiers in poetry) and an MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London. His research integrates creative-critical writing, film, and photography, focusing on intersections of art, theory, and cultural critique.
Notable awards include three Poetry Book Society Recommendations, an Arts Foundation Fellowship, and inclusion in Bloomberg New Contemporaries (2020). His creative works include poetry collections like Hello. Your promise has been extracted (Bloodaxe, 2017) and hybrid film-poetry projects such as The sea is spread and cleaved and furled (Prototype, 2020).
He has served as Editor of Poetry London (2013–2019), juried major literary prizes (T.S. Eliot Prize, Society of Authors Awards), and lectured at institutions including Newcastle University and King’s College London. His moving-image and photographic works have been exhibited globally, including at the South London Gallery and Centro de Cultura Digital (Mexico City).
A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), he regularly collaborates with organizations like the British Council and delivers prestigious lectures, such as the Royal Society of Literature’s T.S. Eliot Memorial Lecture.
