Ahmed Salem

Dr. Ahmed Salem is an Assistant Professor at Hashemite University (Zarqa, Jordan) and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer (equivalent to Associate Professor) at the University of Manchester (UK). He is also a Consultant in Radiation Oncology at Khalidi Medical Plaza/Afia Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology Centre in Amman, Jordan. His clinical specialization is radiation oncology, focusing on lung cancer, proton radiotherapy, MR Linac systems, novel trials, biomarkers, and hypoxia research.

Education: MB ChB (Medicine & Surgery, Cairo University, 2005), MSc in Oncology (Newcastle University, 2013), PhD in Medicine (University of Manchester, 2017). Holds certifications including FRCR (UK), FESTRO, and Jordan Board of Radiation Oncology. He has over 62 peer-reviewed publications and received prestigious awards like the ESTRO Accuray Award (2018).

Research interests include biomarker-driven trials, radiotherapy biomarkers, tumor hypoxia, MRI/PET imaging, and functional imaging applications. He leads the ESTRO FALCON lung cancer contouring workshops and supervises MSc/PhD students. His career goal is to advance radiotherapy research to improve cancer patient survival and quality of life.

Professional roles include memberships in the Royal College of Radiologists (UK) and European Association for Cancer Research (EACR). Teaching contributions include developing oncology education modules and leading clinical webinar series.
