Dr. Ahmad Alshehabi is a Lecturer in Accounting at the University of Southampton’s Southampton Business School. He holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from the University of Birmingham and a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PGCAP), recognized by the UK Higher Education Academy (HEA) as a Fellow.
His research focuses on accounting diversity across countries, embedding national context into accounting practices, and interdisciplinary approaches to earnings management. Key interests include asset impairments, corporate governance, and trade credit dynamics in SMEs. He has published in top-tier journals like International Business Review and Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation, exploring topics such as goodwill impairment recognition, cultural influences on financial decisions, and cross-border credit strategies.
Teaching responsibilities include modules like Financial Accounting 1, Financial Decision Making, and International Financial Reporting. He has taught at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (China), Canterbury Christ Church University (UK), and the University of Birmingham. Currently, he serves as Subject Chair at CCCU, overseeing quality assurance for partner institutions in Greece, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, and London, and is an external examiner at the University of Law in London.
Research affiliations include the Centre for Accounting Education (CAE), the Centre for Democratic Futures, and the CESAR Centre. Current projects investigate ancestral culture’s impact on earnings management and interdisciplinary accounting frameworks.
