Prof. Agusti Alvar is a Full Professor of Medicine at the University of Barcelona and Chair of the Board of Directors for the Global Initiative for Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD). He holds tenure in the Faculty of Medicine's Department of Medicine. His career includes leadership roles such as Director of the Respiratory Institute at Hospital Clinic, Barcelona (2009–2021), and founder of the National Spanish Network of Excellence in Respiratory Research (CIBERES). He has been recognized with prestigious memberships in national academies of medicine and international respiratory societies.
