Agneta Ståhle

Agneta Ståhle serves as Professor of Physiotherapy at Karolinska Institutet's Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society since 2013. Her research addresses falls among the elderly—a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in Sweden with approximately 300,000 annual emergency visits and 1,600 fatalities, where mortality risk is six times higher than traffic accidents.

Her primary research interests include geriatric physiotherapy, fall prevention, and balance rehabilitation for aging populations. She pioneered a scientifically validated balance exercise model targeting elderly individuals, including those with osteoporosis and Parkinson's disease, based on principles of exercise physiology and age-related mobility decline.
