Agneta Anderzén Carlsson is an Adjunct Professor of Nursing Science at Örebro University (since 2024) and holds a Professor II position at the University of Innlandet in Norway. She also served as a Professor of Nursing at Karlstad University (2017–present) and held roles as a Senior Lecturer at Örebro University and Research Leader at Region Örebro County’s University Healthcare Research Center (UFC). Her research focuses on pediatric healthcare, deafblindness, and qualitative methodologies.
Education highlights include a PhD in Medicine (2007, Örebro University) with a thesis on Children with Cancer – Focusing on their Fear and How Their Fear is Handled, and an Associate Professorship in Medical Sciences (2014, Örebro University). She broadened her research to include deafblindness through collaborations with the Swedish National Resource Centre for Deafblindness (NKCdb).
Her current research priorities include: (1) healthcare experiences of children and adolescents, (2) life situations of individuals with deafblindness, and (3) multidisciplinary approaches to disability research. She leads projects on pandemic impacts on deafblind populations and validated pediatric patient surveys with Great Ormond Street Hospital (London). She also contributes to Norway’s master’s program in municipal health promotion for nurses ("helsesykepleie").
As a senior researcher in Örebro’s Disability Research group, she co-leads nationally funded projects evaluating support programs for deafblind individuals and analyzing pandemic-related challenges. Her work emphasizes cross-professional collaboration and patient-centered care.
