Agatino Russo is a Full Professor of General and Applied Entomology at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment, University of Catania. He is a member of the Teaching Board of the International PhD Program in Agricultural, Food and Environmental Science, Full Academician of the Italian Academy of Entomology (Florence), Full Academician of the Gioenia Academy (Catania), and Corresponding Academician of the Academy of Georgofili (Florence). He is also a member of the International Organisation for Biological and Integrated Control of Noxious Animals and Plants (IOBC), the Italian Entomological Society, and the Italian Phytopathological Association.

His research focuses on the taxonomy, faunistics, and biology of Homoptera Coccoidea (scale insects), monitoring and control of stored food pests, and applications of biological and integrated pest management in agricultural and forest ecosystems. He has led international research collaborations and contributed to sustainable practices in agroecosystems.
