Dr. Agata Lulkowska is an Associate Professor of Film and Creative Practice Research at Staffordshire University’s Faculty of Digital, Tech, Innovation & Business. Her interdisciplinary work spans film, photography, and multimedia arts, with a focus on intercultural communication and Indigenous filmmaking. She leads the Practice as Research group and co-directs the C3 Research Centre. Lulkowska holds a PhD from Birkbeck, University of London, and has extensive experience in international film festivals and academic organizations, including roles with BAFTSS and MeCCSA.
Her research explores decolonial strategies in Indigenous filmmaking, collaborative practices, and the politics of representation. Notable works include The Voice of Sierra Nevada (2017) and the monograph Filmmaking in Academia: Practice Research for Filmmakers (2024). Awards include the 2020 International Award for Excellence in Media Studies and AHRC shortlistings. She actively engages in public discourse through podcasts, conferences, and curatorial initiatives like the Communities and Communication Festival.
