Afrodita Marcu is a Research Fellow (RA II) in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Surrey. Her research focuses on psychosocial aspects of cancer prevention, early diagnosis, and care, with a particular emphasis on health inequities among minority groups. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the Open University, an MSc in Social Psychology from the University of Surrey, and a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Surrey. Her roles include serving as an Open Research Champion in her school.

Research Interests
Her work addresses symptom interpretation, help-seeking behaviors, cancer risk communication, and co-producing interventions to reduce disparities in breast cancer outcomes for Black African/Caribbean women. She also explores patient and public involvement (PPI) in mesothelioma research and healthcare equity in pandemic preparedness.

Advising
Currently co-supervising 3 PhD students in Health Sciences and 1 in Psychology. Previously supervised research on traditional medicine in Ghana (awarded Rosemary Pope Memorial Fund for impactful healthcare education).
