Aeisha Ali is a PhD candidate and Graduate Teaching Assistant in the School of Social Sciences at Heriot-Watt University, with affiliations to the Edinburgh Business School. Her academic roles include tutorial tutoring for courses like Management Accounting Decision-Making Techniques and Introduction to Accounting, alongside marking responsibilities. She holds an MA in Accounting and Finance (2021) from Heriot-Watt and an HND in Accounting (West Lothian College). In 2023, she earned the AFHEA qualification via the PgCert (Learning about Learning).
Her research focuses on diversity and inclusivity in the accounting profession, particularly the identity formation of Pakistani Muslim women in Western contexts. Influenced by intersectional feminism, critical race theory, and postcolonial thought, her work addresses liminality, hybridity, and systemic barriers like racism and Islamophobia. Methodologically, she employs life history and semi-structured interviews.
Key research themes include decolonization, social justice, and power dynamics within professional identities. Aeisha’s PhD is supervised by Dr. Qi Li and Dr. Lina Fadel.
