Adrian Walters is a Professor of Law and Director of the Program in Business Law at the Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology. He teaches Contracts, Bankruptcy, and Commercial Law, and holds a fractional visiting professorship at Nottingham Trent University's (NTU) Centre for Business and Insolvency Law. His research focuses on bankruptcy law, cross-border insolvency, and corporate restructuring, with over 80 publications in leading journals like the American Bankruptcy Law Journal and European Business Organization Law Review.
Walters earned a B.A. from the University of Cambridge and a Graduate Diploma in Law from Nottingham Trent University. He practiced as a Solicitor in England and Wales before joining academia in 1994. He has held editorial roles at the International Insolvency Review and Global Restructuring Review, and is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy.
He has received multiple teaching awards, including four Chicago-Kent Student Bar Association Professor of the Year honors and the IIT Michael J. Graff Teaching and Advising Innovation Award. His professional affiliations include the International Insolvency Institute and the U.K.'s Chancery Bar Association. His work spans comparative law, judicial cooperation in insolvency, and the impact of Brexit on cross-border legal frameworks.
