معرفی
Professor Adrian Luckman is a leading glaciologist at Swansea University's Department of Geography within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. He holds a D.Phil. in Electronic Engineering from the University of York (1991) and a BSc (Hons) in Electronic Engineering (1987). His research focuses on glaciology, satellite Earth observation, and geographic information systems (GIS), with expertise in ice shelf stability, glacier dynamics, and climate change impacts.
- Expertise: Satellite remote sensing, GIS, iceberg calving mechanisms, Antarctic and Arctic ice dynamics.
Recent work includes studies on Thwaites Glacier stability, Larsen C Ice Shelf melting, and surge dynamics in Svalbard glaciers. Collaborates internationally on projects like the Thwaites Glacier Offshore Research (THOR) program. Advises PhD students on topics such as ice shelf viscoelastic models and animal movement ecology.
Research highlights include discovering record-breaking surface melt on Larsen C (2020) and documenting rapid ice shelf fragmentation mechanisms. His work combines field observations, remote sensing, and computational modeling to address climate-driven glaciological changes.
