Adrian Kavanagh is an Assistant Professor/Lecturer in the Department of Geography at Maynooth University, serving as Director of Student Success. He specializes in electoral geography, the geopolitics of the Eurovision Song Contest, and political geographies of cultural events. His roles include teaching modules such as Electoral Geography (GY347) and advising on final-year research projects (GY310B).
Research interests focus on voter turnout, electoral boundaries, and the Eurovision's voting patterns. He has authored/co-authored books like The Eurovision Handbook 2014 and contributed to peer-reviewed journals. His work extends to policy, including service on the Dublin and Cities Local Electoral Area Boundary Committee (2008) and the University's Academic Programmes Committee (2016–2025).
Professionally, he served as President (2018–2020) and Vice President (2020–2021) of the Geographical Society of Ireland. He organizes conferences on electoral trends and Eurovision's cultural significance, and engages with media for public outreach.
