Adrian Scahill is an Assistant Professor of Music at Maynooth University, serving as Head of the Department of Music and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. He holds a PhD in Music from University College Dublin under Professor Harry White. His research focuses on Irish traditional music, its history, stylistic analysis, and intersections with popular music, politics, and globalization. He is a leading contributor to the Encyclopaedia of Music in Ireland, with over 40 entries, and has published widely on topics such as the piano’s role in the Gaelic Revival and the cultural significance of traditional music albums. Scahill is actively involved in academic organizations like ICTM Ireland and has organized major conferences in musicology.
