Adrian Harrison

Dr Adrian Harrison is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biology at the University of York. His primary role focuses on teaching critical thinking and practical skills, emphasizing kinaesthetic learning. He leads practical training modules and shapes key skills curricula across programs. His research interests span microbiology, particularly environmental and medical microbiology, with a focus on pathogens' survival mechanisms in the environment and their transmission via fabrics. He explores innovative applications like bioremediation using microbes and antimicrobial agents derived from historical texts. Beyond teaching, he advises on widening participation initiatives and serves on panels for A-level exam boards and the Royal Society of Biology’s accreditation programs.
