Adnan Levent

Adnan Levent is a Postdoctoral Teaching Associate in the Department of Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London. He completed his PhD in Psychology at Birkbeck, University of London, under the supervision of Prof Eddy Davelaar and Dr Virginia Eatough. Levent holds a bachelor's degree in Philosophy, Psychology, and Sociology Teaching from Çukurova University (2009) and a master's degree in Psychology from Kingston University (2013).

His research focuses on the intersection of recreational drug use (alcohol, nicotine, cannabis, cocaine, ecstasy) and cognitive functions including executive control, retrospective and prospective memory, and metacognition. He investigates how these cognitive impairments may act as risk factors for transitioning from recreational to addictive drug use through mixed-methods approaches. Additional research interests include prospective memory mechanisms and their relationship with academic performance.

Levent's recent publications examine the neurocognitive impacts of recreational substances. The 2023 working paper addresses autobiographical memory disruptions, while the 2022 Psychopharmacology article explores prospective memory deficits. His 2019 contributions include a systematic review on illegal drugs' memory effects and a conference study on broader cognitive abilities.
