Aditya Bharadwaj is Professor of Anthropology and Sociology at the Graduate Institute, where he also chairs the Department of Anthropology & Sociology and co-directs the Gender Centre. He holds a PhD from the University of Bristol and previously held positions at Cardiff University and University of Edinburgh. His research examines the intersection of health, reproduction, and biotechnologies through anthropological lenses.
Research interests focus on the socio-cultural dimensions of biomedical technologies in India, including:
- Global politics of biotechnologies and emerging bioeconomies
- Cultural production of knowledge and subject formation
- Transnational therapeutic mobility and gendered scientific practices
- Ethical governance of assisted reproduction and stem cell research
Publications primarily explore stem cell biotechnologies, infertility treatments, and the ethical dimensions of biomedical innovation in global contexts. His work has been recognized with a European Research Council Consolidator Grant supporting his investigation into India's stem cell biotechnology landscape.
