Adil Mughal is a Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at Aberystwyth University. His research focuses on the effects of topology and geometry in condensed matter physics, particularly in packing problems, foams, and conformal geometries. He has published extensively since 2007, with notable contributions to understanding buckling dynamics, harmonic confinement of spheres, and metastable columnar structures.
Key research interests include soft matter physics, structural stability, and nonlinear systems. He collaborates internationally and organizes conferences such as the 13th Eufoam Conference and the Satellite Programme on Geometry and Packing. Current projects include a 2024 collaboration with Parkinson-Spencer Refractories Ltd focusing on knowledge exchange in materials science.
Adil has advised multiple research projects and contributes to interdisciplinary studies combining theoretical physics with experimental demonstrations using hydrogels and microbubbles. His work bridges fundamental physics with practical applications in material structure and biology.
