Adelita Ranchor is a Professor of Health Psychology at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Medical Sciences. Her research focuses on adjustment to chronic illness, psychological aspects of genetics, quality of life, and psychometrics, with a focus on genetics, organ transplantation, nephrology, cancer, and cardiovascular disease. She serves as a member and vice-chair of the Scientific Board of the Dutch Kidney Foundation and has held roles such as Programme Director of the Research Master in Clinical and Psychosocial Epidemiology (2016–2022).
Her teaching includes coordinating courses like the Master Thesis Project and Health Psychology Research at the Graduate School of Medical Sciences. She has held editorial roles, including Associate Editor of the British Journal of Health Psychology (2009–2015), and chairs committees in medical research ethics and oncology.
Her work bridges clinical and psychological research, with recent studies examining mental health's role in cancer risk and microbiome impacts on transplant recipients' outcomes. She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, including the ELSI group at UMCG.
