معرفی
Dr. Adele Woodhouse is a Senior Lecturer and Group Leader at the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre, University of Tasmania. Her research focuses on neuronal excitability, epigenetic alterations in neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Alzheimer's and ALS), and healthy aging mechanisms. She completed her PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Tasmania (2008) and held postdoctoral fellowships in France (INSERM) before returning to Tasmania in 2012 to establish her research group. She has transitioned to a balanced academic role combining research and dementia education.
- Education:
- Bachelor of Science (University of Tasmania, 2000–2002)
- Bachelor of Science Honours (First Class, 2003–2003)
- PhD in Neuroscience (2004–2008)
Her research interests include epigenetic dysregulation in Alzheimer's disease, neuronal hyperexcitability in ALS, and the role of environmental interventions in neuroprotection. She has led projects funded by NHMRC, Motor Neurone Disease Research Australia, and the Yulgilbar Foundation.
Dr. Woodhouse has supervised five PhD students to completion, many of whom have received prestigious fellowships and awards. Her work has been recognized through grants and fellowships, including the NHMRC Postdoctoral Fellowship and the Daniel McLoone MND Research Prize.
She holds leadership roles in organizations such as the Australasian Neuroscience Society and chairs committees focused on equity, diversity, and epigenetics research. Her lab investigates molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration, with a focus on epigenetic and electrophysiological changes in neurons.
