Adele Nightingale is an Associate Professor in Health Professions Education at the Leeds Institute of Medical Education (LIME), School of Medicine, University of Leeds. She leads research and scholarship activities across LIME, providing strategic oversight, supporting researchers, and shaping research priorities within the institute and the wider Faculty of Medicine and Health.

Her research focuses on pedagogical strategies in health professions education, particularly how learning in academic and virtual environments translates into clinical practice. She has led projects on virtual reality for clinical placement preparation and evaluated pre-registration research teaching for Operating Department Practice students, influencing national curriculum development. Her work emphasizes leadership, psychological safety, and patient safety in operating theatres.

She is actively involved in professional leadership, serving as co-lead of the College of Operating Department Practitioners (CODP) Research Strategy and co-chair of the ODP Research and Innovation Community of Practice.
