Dr. Adedayo Akingbade is a Lecturer in Law at Manchester Law School, Manchester Metropolitan University, specializing in human rights, migration, and modern slavery. He holds a PhD in Law from Queen’s University Belfast and an LLM in International Law and Security from the University of Dundee. His research addresses critical issues such as human trafficking, irregular migration, and border racialisation, contributing to interdisciplinary policy discussions through his role in the Human Trafficking Research Network.
He teaches modules including International Human Rights Law, Criminal Law, and Contract Law at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His recent research outputs include analyses of international legal frameworks on due diligence and modern slavery strategies, alongside contributions to transitional justice in post-conflict regions like The Gambia. He previously served as a Research Assistant on projects funded by the Global Challenge Research Fund and Department for the Economy, focusing on witness testimony in truth commissions.
Prior to academia, he worked as a State Counsel in Nigeria (2014–2015) and as a Teaching/Research Assistant at Queen’s University Belfast (2016–2022). His career bridges legal practice, policy advocacy, and academic scholarship.
