Parosha Chandran is a Professor of Practice in Modern Slavery Law at The Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London. She is a human rights barrister at One Pump Court and a leading global expert on human trafficking law, advising international bodies like the UN and OSCE. Her work focuses on legal precedents for victims of modern slavery and human trafficking across asylum, criminal, and public law contexts.
She has contributed to the UK's Modern Slavery Act 2015 and provides judicial training internationally. Notable recognitions include the 2015 Trafficking in Persons Hero Award for her rule-of-law advocacy and legal support to survivors. As Senior Legal Advisor to the UK Parliament’s Modern Slavery Project, she assists Commonwealth nations in strengthening anti-trafficking legislation.
Her landmark legal victories include European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) judgments against the UK for human rights violations in trafficking cases. Chandran is a published author and editor of the seminal Human Trafficking Handbook, and frequently engages in public discourse on modern slavery via media, podcasts, and events.
