Adeboye Adejare is a Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. His research focuses on designing and synthesizing small organic molecules to study neurodegeneration, particularly in stroke and Alzheimer’s Disease, with an emphasis on NMDA receptor antagonists and γ-secretase inhibitors. His work also explores in vitro drug absorption models, blood-brain barrier penetration, and fluoroaromatic compounds. Funding for his research comes from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), and pharmaceutical companies.

His research has led to over 30 publications, a patent, and more than 80 presentations at national and international conferences. Students from his group have earned graduate degrees (MS and PhD) and now work in academia and the pharmaceutical industry. He has contributed to book chapters, including edits for the 22nd Edition of Remington: The Science and Practice of Pharmacy.
