Adam Wilson

Adam Wilson is an Associate Professor in both the Department of Geography and the Department of Environment and Sustainability at the University at Buffalo's College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on ecological impacts of global environmental change, species distributions, ecosystem resilience, climate change, and Bayesian modeling. He holds a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Connecticut, an M.S. in Earth Science from the University of New Hampshire, and a B.S. in Biology (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of New Hampshire.

Wilson's work emphasizes integrating remote sensing technologies with ecological data to address biodiversity conservation challenges. His recent projects include the NASA-funded BioSCape initiative in South Africa, which combines airborne hyperspectral imaging and field surveys to advance biodiversity monitoring. He also explores climate-driven changes in alpine treelines and the resilience of ecosystems under extreme weather conditions.

His publications highlight innovations in data accessibility, code-sharing practices in ecology, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Courses taught include Environmental Science (GEO 104), GIS for Environmental Modeling (GEO 479/559), and Spatial Environmental Data Analysis with R (GEO 503).

Notable contributions include developing early warning systems for extreme temperature impacts on species and advancing methodologies for quantifying biodiversity through geodiversity links.
