معرفی
Joseph J Bailey is a Senior Lecturer in Ecology, Conservation, and Sustainability at the Applied Ecology Research Group, School of Life Sciences, Anglia Ruskin University. His work integrates geodiversity (surface and subsurface materials, landforms, and processes) with biodiversity research to advance ecological theory, species distribution modeling, and conservation policy. He actively supervises PhD projects related to protected areas, geoheritage, and high-latitude/ecology.
- Education: PhD in Geography (University of Nottingham)
- Previous Roles: Lecturer at York St John University (2018–2022)
Research focuses on geodiversity-biodiversity relationships across scales, with applications in global conservation policy, protected area monitoring, and climate change impacts. Recent work emphasizes integrating geodiversity into the 30×30 conservation target and developing Essential Geodiversity Variables.
His publications span high-latitude ecosystems, grassland ecology, and geodiversity modeling, with interdisciplinary collaborations in robotics for biodiversity monitoring and climate crisis education. Awards include Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Royal Geographical Society.
