Ted A Wilson serves as Professor and Department Chair of the Department of Biology, Biochemistry, and Neuroscience at Viterbo University's School of Natural Science, Mathematics, and Engineering, where he actively shapes academic programs and research initiatives in ecological sciences.
His educational foundation includes:
- PhD from Iowa State University
- MS from Iowa State University
- BA from the University of Northern Iowa
Dr. Wilson's research program investigates critical ecological dynamics through field and laboratory approaches, with primary focus on biodiversity assessment and species interactions in changing environments. His current projects examine nocturnal insect communities in regional ecosystems, nesting behaviors of native pollinators like Mason Bees, and roadside habitat biodiversity patterns. This work integrates conservation biology principles with practical field methodologies to address ecosystem resilience challenges.
He implements an immersive teaching philosophy emphasizing direct environmental engagement, regularly leading student field expeditions to international biodiversity hotspots including Costa Rica and the Galapagos Islands. His curriculum spans Ecology and Evolution, Conservation Biology, Limnology, Environmental Science, and General Biology, consistently connecting classroom theory with hands-on ecological investigations in both local Wisconsin environments and global ecosystems.
